R.E.A.D.
Reading Enables Adult Development

Welcome

Student

R.E.A.D.‘s mission is to provide adults who live in or near Northwest Ottawa County, Michigan with an opportunity to improve and transform their lives by strengthening their reading and language fluency.

We believe it is essential that adults, 18 and older, are able to acquire all basic life skills enabling them to achieve reliable employment and independence.

“Over 22,000 adults in Ottawa County are at the lowest level of literacy.

“In the United States, 63 million adults of the country’s adult population, 16 and over – don’t read well enough to understand a newspaper story written at the eight grade level.”
